Upcoming Key Advocacy Efforts for March
- Ontario – Joint Travel Industry (ACTA/CATO/OMCA) lobbying actively continues for changes to the Travel Industry Act (TIA), specifically a consumer pay model and regulatory burden reduction. Watch for our ON MPP Letter Writing Campaign coming soon!
- Alberta – ACTA travels to Alberta next week to continue lobbying efforts with the Alberta Government. Message - Ensure Alberta travellers are properly insured when they travel by enabling Independent Alberta Travel Agents to efficiently counsel and sell Travel Health Insurance. Reduce unfair and unnecessary regulatory burden on Alberta Travel businesses.
- Canadian Travel Agency - Airline Joint Committee – ACTA appointed agencies and IATA member airlines will meet in to collaborate and work through a number of key issues including reducing Debit Memos in Canada, NewGen ISS, Transparency in Payments, NDC, One Order, PCI DSS Compliance, and the new 3DS Task Force which once implemented, will shift liability from the merchant to the credit card issuer.
- Travel Suppliers – Meeting with Canadian Travel Suppliers that do not include Travel Agencies as part of their distribution model – Actively promoting the value of working with Canadian Travel Agents.
