Increased bag fees from Air Canada and WestJet

In the past week ACTA has been contacted by members sharing feedback on the recent announcement that Some Canadian Airlines will be raising the fee for the first checked bag to $30 from $25. As well, the second piece of luggage to $50 from $30. Travel Agencies all over Canada have been contacting ACTA members expressing their disappointment about yet another increase on a non-commissionable fee.

ACTA has strongly objected to the latest round of NCFs that are applied, but at the same time recognize that not all travel suppliers follow the same practices, and while baggage may not be considered on this ancillary fee as it is a core element of most travel bookings.

We will continue to monitor the progress of this situation.
