Set Sail for Taiwan!

Taiwan is widely celebrated for its distinctive culture, stunning beaches and efficient railway system – but the island has also quickly become one of Asia’s most popular cruise destinations. Due to its central location off the continent’s east coast, Taiwan is a convenient stop along cruise routes between South Korea or Japan and the Philippines, Vietnam or other countries in Southeast Asia. In fact, Taiwan provides one of the largest sources of cruise passengers throughout Asia.

Taiwan has six main ports at which cruise ships can dock. The country’s busiest port is Keelung – a charming seaside city located along the northern coast of the island. By the end of 2017, Keelung is expected to hit a 34-percentincrease of cruise passengers year over year! This is due to a rise in the number of large ocean liners visiting the port regularly along with the wide range of tourist attractions it offers. From various parks and plazas to astounding scenic views, it’s no wonder international lines such as Costa Cruises of Italy and Star Cruises of Hong Kong have chosen Keelung (and Taiwan’s second-busiest harbor, Kaohsiung) as homeport. Princess Cruises of the US is also set to sail its Majestic Princess SM, a new luxury ocean liner designed specifically for the Asian market, to Taiwan for a four-month stint in 2018.

Some cruises to Taiwan will include package tours so visitors can explore the island’s exciting port cities, all of which are highly regarded for their friendly and seamless customer service in both English and Chinese. Signage to purchase tickets also features both languages to accommodate travelers from near or far. So whether Taiwan is your primary destination or one stop on your larger Asian adventure, a cruise may be the perfect way to experience this island paradise.
