Nova Scotia will reduce its Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) rate from 15% to 14% effective April 1, 2025. The change will lower the provincial portion of HST from 10% to 9%, while the federal portion remains at 5%. This marks the first adjustment to Nova Scotia's HST rate in 14 years and will align the province's rate more closely with Ontario's 13% HST, while remaining comparable to other Atlantic provinces which maintain a 15% rate. The tax reduction has been officially communicated to the Canada Revenue Agency and will require legislative changes before implementation next spring.
