Tourism HR Canada’s Belong program is a groundbreaking three-year, pan-Canadian initiative funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). This comprehensive program aims to revolutionize the tourism industry by creating inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible, and leading (IDEAL) workplaces, with a specific focus on disability inclusion. Through a robust suite of resources including online training, employer toolkits, and workplace accessibility clinics, Belong will equip tourism businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to successfully hire, retain, and promote persons with disabilities.

The initiative features several key components designed to create lasting impact across the industry. A comprehensive training program, launching with a Train-the-Facilitator Workshop in Ottawa in January 2025, will establish a network of qualified facilitators to deliver disability inclusion training nationwide. Additionally, the program includes a National Workplace Accreditation Program to recognize businesses championing disability inclusion, and "Belong Connections" events to facilitate meaningful partnerships between employers and community organizations. Through collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, Tourism HR Canada is committed to fostering a more inclusive and accessible tourism sector that recognizes and leverages the valuable contributions of persons with disabilities. Learn more here.
