ACTA is launching its comprehensive 2024 Member Compensation Survey (click here), designed to capture crucial compensation data for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2023.

ACTA strongly encourages all travel agency members to participate, stressing that their input is crucial for shaping the future of the Canadian travel industry. The deadline for survey completion is August 16, 2024.

The survey examines a wide range of compensation and employment practices across Canada, with a regional focus that allows for nuanced insights into geographical variations within the industry.

The survey delves into various employee benefits and policies, including detailed vacation allowances based on years of service, IATA card and provincial certification payment practices, retirement program offerings, and FAM trip policies. It also explores shift work premiums and service recognition programs, providing a comprehensive view of non-salary benefits in the industry.

A significant portion of the survey is dedicated to understanding the role and compensation of Independent Travel Advisors (ITAs). It seeks to determine the prevalence of ITAs, their specialization areas (leisure, corporate, or mixed), and typical commission structures.

The core of the survey focuses on detailed salary information for travel advisors at various experience levels.

ACTA emphasizes that the survey results will be instrumental in understanding industry trends, identifying challenges, developing growth strategies, and bolstering advocacy efforts with government and stakeholders. The data collected will be a valuable resource for members in benchmarking their practices against industry standards.

To ensure candid responses, ACTA guarantees that the survey is completely anonymous and confidential. All data will be reported in aggregate form to maintain participant privacy.

For any questions or additional information about the survey, members are directed to contact Avery Campbell, ACTA's Director of Advocacy and Industry Relations.
